Buffalo fire causes more than $300,000 in damage, injures resident and a firefighter

One male resident and one firefighter are being treated for burn injuries following a house fire in South Buffalo, officials said.ย 

Firefighters responded to a call just after 11 p.m. Sunday about a fire that started on the first floor of the home at 167 Parkview Ave. They encountered heavy smoke conditions upon arrival, investigators said.ย 

Firefighters rescued one resident, while two others made it out on their own, authorities said. One other resident jumped to safety from a third-floor window.

The survivors were transported to local hospitals, including Erie County Medical Center. One of the four, a male resident, suffered life threatening injuries, spokesman Michael DeGeorge said.ย 

One Buffalo firefighter was also taken to ECMC to be treated for second degree burns, DeGeorge added.ย 

The damage is estimated at $250,000, while two nearby garages suffered exposure damage worth nearly $60,000, fire investigators said.ย 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.ย
