Harriet Donohue, a lifelong Staten Islander, passed away at the age of 94. She initially resided in New Dorp and attended Our Lady Queen of Peace Church and school, ultimately graduating from New Dorp High School. Harriet’s life took a significant turn when she met her future husband, Edward, while ice skating at Flaggs Pond (now Ohrbach Lake). They married in 1951 and initially lived in West Brighton before settling in Grant City in 1953. Throughout their life together, Harriet and Edward enjoyed activities such as visiting the Jersey Shore and Long Beach Island. Harriet also cherished the family’s travels to various destinations across the world. Harriet dedicated 13 years of her career to the NYS South Beach Psychiatric Center, working in the Human Resources Department. Following this, she worked part-time at Staten Island University Hospital North in the Nursing Department, retiring in 2000. Harriet was an active volunteer at St. Christopher’s School, at Staten Island University North, and at the former Staten Island Hospital in Tompkinsville. She was a proud member of NAMI SI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill). Harriet leaves behind a legacy of family, service, and cherished memories. Read the full obit on SILive.
