A man died in a Brooklyn hit-and-run crash Monday night when he was ejected from a car that collided with an MTA bus, police said.

First responders found Alex Caba-Gutierrez, 33, at around 9:45 p.m. with severe injuries at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Lorimer Street in Williamsburg, according to NYPD officials.

He was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was pronounced dead.

After a preliminary investigation, police said Caba-Gutierrez was thrown from a red Mercedes Benz when it collided with an MTA bus. The driver of the Mercedes fled the scene along with another passenger, according to NYPD officials. The bus driver and one bus passenger were both taken to nearby hospitals in stable condition.

Police said Caba-Gutierrez lived about a mile away from where he died and they were still investigating the cause of the crash on Tuesday.

Williamsburg had a total of five crash-related deaths in 2023, according to NYC Crash Mapper data. Two of the fatalities were cyclists, and three were pedestrians.

According to the site, Caba-Gutierrez is the neighborhoodโ€™s first crash-related death this year.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
