One woman was killed and another faces a litany of charges following a two-car crash Monday night on Transit Road, Cheektowaga police said.
Jennifer Hylkema, 51, of Lockport, was entering into traffic from a parking lot on the west side of Transit Road between Rehm Road and Cloverleaf Drive around 9 p.m. Monday when her car was struck by a southbound vehicle, officials said. She was dead on arrival at Erie County Medical Center.
Alondra Ramirez-Santiago, 24, of Cheektowaga, was driving the other vehicle, Police Chief Brian Coons said in a news release.
She has been arrested and charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter, reckless driving and driving while intoxicated, he said.
She was arraigned and remanded to the Erie County Holding Center, Coons added. She is scheduled to return to court Friday for a felony hearing.
