ALBANY – A 60-year-old man faces a 25 year-to-life prison sentence after a jury Thursday afternoon convicted him of killing his roommate last year, Albany County prosecutors said.
Jimmie Lee Allen of Albany was convicted of one second-degree murder count in the trial before Judge Andra Ackerman in Albany
County Court, the district attorney’s office said in a statement.
An indictment alleged that in the early morning of Aug. 12, Allen stabbed Rodney McLean. According to an earlier police report the two were roommates at a Clinton Street address between Third and Fourth avenues. According to city police, McLean, 56, was unresponsive, suffering from multiple stab wounds to his torso when they arrived at the scene, where he was pronounced dead.
Allen’s sentencing is scheduled for June 6. He was sent to jail without bail, according to the district attorney’s office.
Assistant district attorneys Ariel Fallon and Jessica Blain-Lewis are handling the prosecution.
