Wyoming County house fire kills family pets, causes $250,000 damage

A few family pets died in a residential fire Tuesday in Middlebury, Wyoming County fire officials said in a news release.ย 

Firefighters responded to a call at 7:15 p.m. about a residential fire at 1569 Comet Road. It took them five hours to combat the fire, they said.ย 

The house is destroyed and has incurred damage estimated at $250,000, officials said. One firefighter was transported to Wyoming County Community Hospital.

The family of four, including occupants Christopher and Laura Jacek, are being assisted by the Red Cross and staying with family, they added.ย 

The cause of fire is under investigation.
