A report was issued from the National Weather Service on Thursday at 6:01 p.m. for heavy snow until 6:30 p.m. for Onondaga County.

“At 6 p.m., a band of heavy snow was over Baldwinsville moving southeast at 30 MPH,” according to the weather service.

The warning is for Onondaga, Syracuse, Clay, Cicero, De Witt, Lysander, Van Buren, Baldwinsville, Pompey and North Syracuse. This includes the following highway exits: interstate 90 between 34A and 39. New York Interstate 81 between 15 and 30.

The weather service states, “Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination. Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this band of heavy snow. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads may lead to accidents.”
