Staten Island, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women’s basketball team outscored the Wagner Seahawks 15-0 in the third quarter to erase a three-point halftime deficit and claim a 55-46 win during Thursday’s NEC battle, which was Le Moyne’s final away game of the regular season. inside Wagner’s Spiro Sports Complex.
The win was Le Moyne’s sixth in a row and improved its conference record to 13-2. The Dolphins are now 7-1 in road games during NEC play.
Le Moyne, which defeated Wagner by a score 56-45 in the first-ever meeting between the two sides on February 1 in Syracuse, completed its sixth NEC regular season sweep with the win on Thursday.
Fifth-year guard Lytoya Baker (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) recorded her NEC-leading 12th double-double of the season with 16 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a season-high-tying four steals in 39 minutes played against the Seahawks.
Sophomore guard Kaia Goode (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) and graduate guard Sydney Lusher (Oneida, N.Y./Oneida) each scored nine points during the win. Goode dished a game-high five assists with three steals and three rebounds, while Lusher recorded three assists, four rebounds, two steals and a season-high-tying three blocks.
Juniors Brianna Williams (Brampton, Ontario/Southwest Academy/Hartford) and Emily Florvil (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth) pulled down six and five rebounds, respectively, and they each scored six points.
The Dolphins shot a season-low 44% from the free-throw line on a season-high-tying 25 attempts, and they shot 4-14 from 3-point range, but they forced Wagner into 21 turnovers and scored 18 points off of those turnovers.
Wagner graduate guard Taleah Washington shot 5-11 from 3-point range to score a team-high 15 points during the setback, while junior guards Semie Brar and Paige Lyons and freshman guard Drew Jordon each scored six points for the Seahawks.
