A 13-year-old boy was shot and killed two blocks from his home in Brooklyn Thursday night, police said, becoming the cityโ€™s youngest victim of gun violence so far this year.

NYPD officials said Troy Gill was shot multiple times around 10:40 p.m. near the intersection of Brooklyn Avenue and St. Marks Avenue in Crown Heights, steps away from the Brooklyn Childrenโ€™s Museum.

First responders took him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where he was pronounced dead.

It was not immediately clear what Gill was doing at the time of the shooting, according to police, and no arrests have been made.

Four other people have been shot and killed in Crown Heights this year, more than any other neighborhood in New York City, according to data from the NYPD compiled by Gothamist.

Nazim Berry, 37, was fatally shot about a mile away from Gill after an alleged dispute over a Black & Mild cigar. Lamine Bah, 33, was fatally shot at his home Wednesday just a few blocks from where Berry died.

Police said itโ€™s still unclear whether any of the incidents were related.

A total of 26 New Yorkers have died of gun violence so far this year, according to the same police data.

Brooklyn has had a total of 12 fatal shootings in 2024 so far โ€“ more than any other borough.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
