NY weather: Be prepared for freezing rain in New York until Saturday morning

A report was issued from the National Weather Service on Saturday at 4:12 a.m. for freezing rain until 7:30 a.m. for Broome, Delaware and Sullivan counties.

“Light precipitation mainly in the form of rain, sleet and freezing rain continues to fall across the higher elevations of northeast PA, the eastern Southern Tier and Catskills of Central NY. Temperatures are near or slightly below freezing across elevations above 1600 feet or so. While most major highways and treated roadways appear to be just wet, a minor glaze of ice is possible on untreated surfaces, before temperatures warm up toward sunrise or shortly thereafter. Use caution while traveling early this morning, particularly on lesser traveled secondary roads,” according to the weather service.

Advance Local Weather Alerts is a service provided by United Robots, which uses machine learning to compile the latest data from the National Weather Service.
