Le Moyne women’s basketball limits Saint Francis to 24 points in regular-season finale

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne women’s basketball delivered a dominant defensive performance on Saturday afternoon during Senior Day on Ted Grant Court, besting Saint Francis, 56-24 in the Dolphins’ final game of the 2023-24 regular season.

It was the fewest points allowed by a Le Moyne team since the 1993-94 campaign when Le Moyne beat Utica, 72-23.

With the win Le Moyne avenged a loss at Saint Francis on January 21.

Le Moyne ends the regular season on a seven-game win streak, its longest win streak of the season.

Seniors Lytoya Baker (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) and Haedyn Roberts (Holland Patent, N.Y./Holland Patent) each scored 16 points during the win. Roberts tied her season-high of seven field goals made on just 10 attempts, and she also pulled down seven rebounds, including four offensive boards.

Junior forward Brianna Williams (Brampton, Ontario/Southwest Academy/Hartford) tallied her second double-double of the season with 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Kaia Goode (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) recorded a season-best six steals, which was one away from her career high.

As a team, the Dolphins recorded 15 steals, which is the second-most steals that they have compiled in a single game this season.

Le Moyne led Saint Francis 28-9 at halftime, and their lead dipped under 20 points for just 38 seconds in the second half.

The final day of the NEC regular season is on Thursday, March 7. Le Moyne will be the only squad not in action that day.

The ‘Phins will host an NEC Tournament quarterfinal game on Monday, March 11. With a 14-2 conference record, the Dolphins will finish in at least second place in the NEC standings. Sacred Heart (19-9, 13-1) is currently position to claim the NEC regular season championship and the no. 1 seed in the NEC Tournament if it can beat Merrimack on Saturday and Saint Francis on Thursday.
