The Ithaca Police Department say they responded to a distress call on Saturday, March 2 around 1:50 p.m. regarding a physical altercation involving several individuals.
Police said initial reports indicated that one was armed with a knife. On arrival, officers discovered that two male suspects, both donning hooded sweatshirts, had already fled the scene on foot, leaving behind a victim with a knife-inflicted wound to the lower face.
The injured party received immediate medical attention on site from Bangs Ambulance Company and Ithaca Fire Department followed by hospitalization for non-life-threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the parties involved were acquainted, pointing towards a targeted rather than random act, alleviating broader public safety concerns.
The Ithaca Police Department continues to investigate the incident and urges anyone with information to come forward, offering anonymity to those who prefer it.
