An investigation that spanned more than a year has resulted in the arrest of an Oregon woman, according to new information from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Megan A. Thomas, a 29-year-old woman from Portland, Oregon, was arrested after a year-long investigation. Thomas faces charges including menacing a police officer, felony assault, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
These charges stem from an October 2, 2022, incident where Thomas allegedly fled a traffic crash scene, later resisted arrest, and pulled a knife on an officer.
After failing to appear in court, a warrant for Thomas’s arrest was issued on January 9, 2023, by the Wayne County Superior Court. Investigators discovered Thomas had moved to Oregon, where she was apprehended in Portland on February 22, 2024. Wayne County deputies extradited her back to New York State the following day.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to the Portland Police Department and the Wayne County District Attorney for their cooperation in successfully apprehending and extraditing Thomas. She is now awaiting a court appearance in Wayne County.
