The Buffalo Sabres hosted the Winnipeg Jets at KeyBank Center on Sunday night and held two one-goal leads but collapsed in the third period, allowing four unanswered goals in a 5-2 loss.
Buffalo (29-29-4) led 2-1 after 40 minutes, thanks to goals from JJ Peterka (20) and Eric Robinson (3), but Winnipeg tied the game midway through the third period and grabbed the lead with just over six minutes remaining. The Sabres pulled the goalie for the extra attacker twice, but it did not work out, as the Jets hit the empty net twice to seal the win.
Winnipeg outshot Buffalo 35-19, including 14-7 in the final period. The Sabres went 1-for-2 on the power and a perfect 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 30 saves on the second night of a back-to-back.
