STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — More than 50 people representing various organizations, interfaith communities and law enforcement gathered for breakfast at the 25th annual Staten Island Community Days event at the Albanian Islamic Culture Center in Tompkinsville Tuesday morning.
Imam Tahir Kukaj, the event host, shared that the idea for Community Days originated during the struggle for Kosovo’s independence after the 1998 Serbian invasion. The Albanian Islamic Culture Center was supporting the people of Kosovo during that period, and since then, the event has continued annually -— reflecting the center’s ongoing dedication to community service.
