The Buffalo Bills wasted no time in finding Josh Allen’s backup for the 2024 season.
On Wednesday, Buffalo agreed to terms Mitch Trubisky. Trubisky, 29, previously played for the Bills in 2021.
The veteran quarterback is rejoining Buffalo after spending the past two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Trubisky started in five games during his first season in Pittsburgh, but he eventually lost the starting job to Kenny Pickett. In his second season, Trubisky started the year as Pickett’s backup, but fell to No. 3 quarterback by the end of the year.
Trubisky made a great first impression with Buffalo in 2021.
“You know, Mitch came in with open arms and eyes, he learned our system with Ken Dorsey, Brian Daboll, and Josh,” Beane told the media following Trubisky’s season in Buffalo. “He was a great caddy, and was ready if his number was called. I have nothing but positive things for him.”
Beane revealed that he also told Trubisky that there would be a spot for him on the Bills’ roster if he didn’t find a deal to his liking in free agency that season.
Head coach Sean McDermott also spoke highly of Trubisky.
“He’s a consummate professional, the way he approaches his day to day and his habits. I can’t say enough good things about Mitch Trubisky,” McDermott said on the quarterback.
Beane and McDermott proved today that their previous comments were not just lip service.
