Queens police probe death of woman found shot in her home

Queens detectives are investigating the death of a woman found fatally shot inside her home on Thursday morning.

Officers from the 106th Precinct made the grave discovery while responding to a 911 call for assistance in the vicinity of 84th Street and Shore Parkway in Howard Beach at about 6 a.m. on March 7.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement sources said, the officers discovered a 69-year-old woman unconscious and unresponsive, with a gunshot wound to her head.

A firearm was found near the woman’s body. Police are now investigating whether the wound may have been self-inflicted.

Responding EMS units pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Police have withheld her identity, pending family notification.
