Top-seeded Colgate beats Holy Cross in Patriot League men’s basketball quarterfinals

Four Colgate players scored in double figures as the top-seeded Raiders beat Holy Cross 81-64 in the quarterfinals of the Patriot League men’s basketball tournament on Thursday night at Cotterell Court in Hamilton.

Colgate will host fifth-seeded Bucknell on Sunday at 2 p.m in a semifinal game. The Bison beat fourth-seeded American 80-57 in another quarterfinal Thursday.

Ryan Moffatt had 14 points to lead Colgate, while Keegan Records added 13, Braeden Smith 12 and Jeff Woodward 10. Smith added seven rebounds and eight assists.

A layup by Records 3:28 into the game put Colgate up 7-6; the Raiders never lost the lead, and took a 42-30 edge into halftime.

Colgate, the top team in the Patriot League in the regular season with a 16-2 league record, improved to 23-9. Holy Cross finishes the season 10-23.
