The East Coast Conference announced its 2024 All-Conference honorees on Thursday, and three members of the College of Staten Island were recognized.
Staten Island head coach TJ Tibbs was tabbed Coach of the Year, while juniors Bryce Waterman and Messiah Mallory were named to the First Team.
All voting was done by the league’s nine head coaches.
Tibbs, in his sixth season on Victory Blvd., flipped the script from a year ago. The Dolphins finished the regular campaign with a 19-9 record, after posting a 9-19 mark last season. CSI is 13-3 in conference play, garnering the No. 2 seed in the conference tourney.
The program’s 13 conference wins are the most its racked up during Tibbs’ tenure. The former Dolphins point guard’s squad led the conference in three pointers made/attempted per game (9.9/26.2) and tied for the top average for assists per game (16.1).
Waterman, a guard, and Mallory, a forward, were key cogs in the Dolphins machine, each averaging 14.2 points per game. The latter also averaged 8.7 rebounds.
