Free financial literacy classes offered for Buffalo residents

Buffalo residents can get tips on how to be financially empowered through the Buffalo Common Council’s free financial literacy event on March 30.

The Buffalo Money Mastery Financial Literacy Workshop partners with financial institutions and community organizations to equip individuals with the knowledge necessary to achieve financial success, according to Council members.

The event offers courses tailored to meet the diverse financial needs of participants, from first-time homebuyers to individuals seeking to enhance their investment knowledge.

M&T Bank will host a first-time homebuyer class. Learn about the real estate market in Real Estate 101 with Mootry Murphy Burgin Realty Group.

Evans Bank will offer a financial foundations class and Edward Jones Investments will teach an investment insights class.

Belmont Housing Resources of WNY will provide credit repair information in a class.

“Financial literacy is crucial for individuals to make informed decisions about their money,” said Buffalo Common Council President Christopher P. Scanlon. “The inaugural Buffalo Common Council Money Mastery Financial Literacy Workshop represents a significant step in our goal of empowering our community with the knowledge and resources needed to achieve financial stability and success.”

The 45-minute long classes are open to all members of the community from 10 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the University at Buffalo South Campus in Diefendorf Hall, 140 Diefendorf Loop. Free campus parking will be available.
