NYPD: Woman jogging in Central Park allegedly sexually abused by man on scooter

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The NYPD is asking for the public’s help to identify an individual sought for questioning in connection with an alleged incident of sexual abuse in Central Park.

A 30-year-old woman was jogging when she was approached from behind by an unknown man riding on a blue Razor scooter in the vicinity of West Drive on Wednesday at about 6:30 p.m., according to a statement from the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.

The man stepped off the scooter, grabbed the 30-year-old jogger’s waist from behind and rubbed himself against the victim, according to the police statement. The man then fled on the scooter northbound on West Drive, leaving the park onto West 72nd Street and Central Park West, police said.

The victim did not sustain any physical injuries as a result of this incident, according to the police statement.

The individual sought is described by police as a 20-to-25-year-old man who stands about 6 feet tall and weighs about 165 pounds, with a medium build, dark complexion and brown eyes. He was seen wearing a black jacket, black-hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black-and-yellow sneakers. The man was riding a blue, Razor scooter.

Images of the individual sought for questioning have been posted on the NYPD Crime Stoppers X feed, formerly known as Twitter.

The incident is being investigated by the NYPD’s Manhattan Special Victims Squad.
