In a span of less than four hours on Friday, a man was arrested twice after acting in a disorderly fashion at two Jamestown businesses โ at one of them he threatened an employee with a knife, according to the Jamestown Police Department.
Ervin L. Mitchell, 53, was arrested around 10 a.m. after the first incident at a Northside Jamestown business, and then after being released, was once again detained around 1:30 p.m. after breaking a window at a Westside Jamestown business, police said.
Mitchell was arraigned on the new charges Saturday and once again released, in accordance with New York State Bail Reform laws.
During the initial incident, Mitchell allegedly brandished a knife in a threatening manner to an employee and was charged with second-degree menacing and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and arraigned in Jamestown City Court.
Shortly after, police said they responded to a report of a disorderly person at the Westside business and there they found Mitchell, who had broken a window at the business. He was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and held in Jamestown City Jail until his arraignment on Saturday.
