Police are investigating two traffic fatalities in Staten Island and Brooklyn that killed two men on Monday.

NYPD officers responded to a car crash on Goethals Road North near Jules Drive in Staten Islandโ€™s Graniteville neighborhood after 10 p.m. and found a severely injured man. They pronounced him dead at the scene and have not publicly identified him as they work to notify his family.

Police later determined the man was a passenger in a Black BMW sedan whose driver had lost control on a multilane side street and slammed into a light pole. The driver fled the scene, according to NYPD officials, and had not been tracked down by Tuesday morning.

Brooklyn resident Jundi Hu, 67, died hours earlier in Sunset Park after he lost control of an e-bike he was riding and fell into the roadbed near 53rd Street and Sixth Avenue around 4 p.m. on Monday, police said.

NYPD officials said Hu was severely injured and pronounced dead at NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn.

No other vehicles were involved and no obstacles on the road appeared to have caused the crash, according to police. The incident remained under investigation on Tuesday.

Police said Hu lived in Bay Ridge, about a mile from where he fell off the e-bike.
