Kia thieves take more than cars: Syracuse victims lose money, jobs, a ride named ‘Betsy’: More than 900 Hyundais and Kias were stolen in Onondaga County in 2023 by thieves who used a security flaw in the cars’ design that allowed them to be stolen in 30 seconds. The thieves are often teens who take the cars in the middle of the night, and crash or ditch them before dawn. But the losses go beyond the vehicles.

Liverpool teacher arrested, accused of kicking 5-year-old student: A Liverpool Central School District teacher was arrested Tuesday for endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person, deputies say. Melissa Harrington, 47, is accused of kicking a 5-year-old student in December, a sheriff’s office spokesman said.
