JMA Dome reseating will scatter our group of ‘true football fans’ (Your Letters)

To the Editor:

I have thinking about writing this letter since I got the news from Syracuse University that my section at the JMA Wireless Dome is going to be student seating now, and I and my 11 fellow Section 327 buddies have to fend for ourselves in finding new seating. Most of us have been there since the Dome opened in 1980 and would like to remain together, but after reading the material sent to us, unless we increase our ‘’gift’’ to SU, the odds of us being in the same section are almost impossible.

True football fans don’t care about the plush new seating and convenient cup holders. We are there to watch football. I remember my dad taking me to Archbold Stadium in the late 1950s and see all the great players and teams . Archbold was one of the greatest home-field advantages in college sports, as was Manley Field House. To see my ‘’Orangemen’’ go against many superior teams and give them a fight for their money was truly awesome. To see the Saltine Warrior run out on the field while the snow was coming down was a scene I’ll never forget.

Many of my Section 327 buddies are in their late 60s, early 70s, and can’t negotiate the stairs and I have been told by some of them that if they can’t get the desired seating, they will be giving up their tickets and the $11 beer. I hope it doesn’t come to this. I love my Orange football and can’t wait till next season. Go Orange!
