STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The New York City civil service exam schedule is open for March, and some jobs pay more than others.
The application period for exams opened March 6.
Exam applications currently open include: associate housing development specialist; city tax auditor; civil engineer; computer systems manager; graphic artist; instrumentation specialist; labor relations analyst; mate (ferry); quality assurance specialist; social worker; special officer; special officer (NYC H+H).
Open, competitive, computer-based tests are administered throughout each month for various positions. If you meet the basic requirements of the job, you can apply for your exam online at Online Application System (OASys) or at one of the Computer-Based Testing and Application Centers (CTAC).
The deadline for exams is March 26.
Here are the starting salaries, deadlines and job descriptions for each career, according to the city.
Associate housing development specialist
Salary: $81,571
Application deadline: March 26
Job description: Associate Housing Development Specialists, under direction, perform very complex and responsible analytical or coordination work related to the development, and/or implementation of housing programs designed to preserve and upgrade neighborhoods, or to improve urban renewal areas or public and private housing; may supervise subordinate staff; may perform the duties of subordinate personnel; and may perform the duties of the supervisor in his/her absence.
City tax auditor
Salary: $49,640
Application deadline: March 26

Civil engineer
Salary: $74,041
