The Subway restaurant in Wellsville’s Riverwalk Plaza has reportedly closed down after serving the community for 25 years. RG Mason Auctions, based in Fillmore, is conducting an online liquidation auction for all items within the establishment. This development was announced following the removal of the Wellsville location from Subway’s official store locator, signaling the end of its operations in the area.
The auction, which commenced on Monday evening, is set to run through March 21, with a scheduled pickup for the auctioned items on March 22. Available items range from Subway branded apparel to kitchen equipment and decorative elements that once graced the restaurant’s interior. This closure leaves Subway enthusiasts in Allegany County with alternative locations in Friendship and Alfred Station, both situated within Crosby’s gas stations, and a standalone restaurant in Cuba.
The Riverwalk Plaza, known for housing long-term tenants like Tops, the YMCA, and Sherwin Williams, welcomed a new addition in 2023 with Runnings taking over the space previously occupied by Kmart. The exit of Subway marks a significant change in the plaza’s dining offerings, reflecting the shifting landscape of local business establishments.
