The Wayne Eagles needed just one more win to claim its first-ever state title but unfortunately came up short in a 50-37 loss to Glens Falls in the Class A final on Saturday night.Â
Wayne fell behind early and trailed for the entire contest but cut the deficit to four early in the third quarter before Glens Falls answered with an 18-1 run to close the frame and pulled away for the victory.Â
PJ Ostrowski led the Eagles with 13 points, while Cam Blankenberg poured in 12 and joined the 1000-point club as a sophomore.
Wayne finished the season with a 24-3 record and a sixth sectional title.Â
