Marcel Veilleux, a 67-year-old man from Schuyler County, was arraigned this week on multiple charges of sexual assault against children, following his arrest in North Carolina. Veilleux faces serious accusations including predatory sexual assault against a child in the first degree, a class A-II felony, and criminal sexual act in the first degree, a class B felony. Authorities allege that Veilleux engaged in sexual acts with two children under the age of 13 on multiple occasions.
Veilleux was apprehended in Washington County, North Carolina, based on an active warrant from New York State. He was subsequently returned to New York by the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Department for processing. During a court hearing on March 13, his attorney requested bail, which was set the following day at $1 million cash, $2 million insurance bond, or $4 million partially secured surety bond, due to the gravity of the charges.
If convicted, Veilleux could face life imprisonment for the predatory sexual assault charge and up to 25 years for the criminal sexual act charge, highlighting the serious nature of these allegations.
