Brooklyn police are searching for a heavy-handed brute who hospitalized a man during a fight on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
Police sources said the two men got into an argument outside a bodega at the corner of Fulton and Cleveland Streets in Cypress Hills at around 1:45 p.m. on March 17.
Although the cause of the fight is not exactly clear, cops say the two men threw punches at one another, during which one of the combatants, a 30-year-old man apparently fell and struck his head on the concrete.
A large patch of blood along with a discarded hat, covered with an absorbing agent, could be observed at the scene of the altercation.
“I saw a man bleeding around 2 p.m.,” eyewitness Denise Clarke said. “He was screaming in pain.”
Police said the 30-year-old man was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital; he was listed in stable condition.
The NYPD is now looking for the other suspect in the fisticuffs, described as a man in his 30s. No arrests have yet been made in the case.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). You can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/, or on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter) @NYPDTips.
All calls and messages are kept confidential.
The case bears a resemblance to a similar incident in Brooklyn the night before, in which a 61-year-old man lost his life after getting into a fight with a 30-year-old tow truck driver at a gas station in Canarsie. Police said the 30-year-old man punched the 61-year-old driver during the fight, causing the man to fall onto the pavement and hit his head.
