A 19-year-old woman died on Sunday after she was stabbed in the chest at a bodega in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and police were still searching for the suspect on Monday.
NYPD officials said Samyia Spain was stabbed around 2:20 a.m. Sunday at 77 4th Ave., where the Slope Natural Plus corner store is located. Officers responding to a 911 call about an assault found Spain, along with another 19-year-old girl — who police said was her twin — stabbed in the arm.
Both women were transported to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where Spain was pronounced dead and her sister was reported in stable condition.
The stabbings stemmed from a verbal dispute with the suspect, but an NYPD spokesperson had no further details on Monday. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
