New Yorkers looking to cast their votes early for the April 2 presidential primary will have one less day to do so this year.
The State Board of Elections announced that because of a recent change in state law, the early voting schedule will be changed.ย
In past years, voters could cast their votes within a nine-day period. This cycle, there will be an eight-day period for early voting. There will be no early voting on Sunday, March 31, elections officials said in a news release.
Early voting for the presidential primaries will begin March 23 and will end March 30. The presidential primary elections are scheduled for April 2. Only voters who are enrolled in the Democratic or Republican parties are eligible to vote in the primary elections.ย
โNew Yorkers have a number of ways to exercise their right to vote,โ Kristen Zebrowski Stavisky, co-executive director of the elections board, said in a statement. โWe want to ensure all eligible voters are able to vote in this presidential primary election โ no matter if itโs in-person or by mail.โ
