The Buffalo Sabres tried to mount a third-period comeback but fell just short in a 3-2 road loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night.
Buffalo (33-32-5) trailed 2-0 after 40 minutes but cut the deficit to one twice in the final period, including with 20 seconds left before falling short.
Rasmus Dahlin scored both goals for the Sabres, who were outshot 34-17. Alex Tuch recorded two assists, while Devon Levi stopped 31 shots in his first NHL start since January 27.
Buffalo went 0-for-4 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill.
