Monsignor Farrell High School set to recognize two ‘faithful men’ at the Vir Fidelis Ball at the Vanderbilt April 27

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Monsignor Farrell High School is gearing up for it’s annual Vir Fidelis Ball, the black-tie-preferred event set for Saturday, April 27 at the Vanderbilt on the South Beach Boardwalk.

The elegant evening will feature dinner and dancing to a live orchestra, a fireworks display over New York Bay, performances by the Farrell Players, the school’s drama society, and the Monsignor Farrell Band, as well as speeches from current Monsignor Farrell High School students.

The late Monsignor Peter Finn, a beloved former Monsignor Farrell principal and Blessed Sacrament Parish Pastor, and Jim Quinn, a distinguished alumnus from the Class of 1970 and emeritus member of the school’s board of trustees, will be honored at this year’s event.

The two outstanding leaders are being recognized for decades of service to Monsignor Farrell High School and for their lifetime of service to the community of Staten Island.

“The Vir Fidelis Ball was established in February of 2020 to honor and thank leaders who have helped build Monsignor Farrell into the revered institution it is today,” said Lou Tobacco, president of Monsignor Farrell High School.

Tobacco went on to explain that the Vir Fidelis Ball honors individuals who have made monumental contributions to the Monsignor Farrell legacy.

The inaugural event honored Bishop Edmund Whalen, an alum in the Farrell Class of 1976 and a former teacher and principal at the Oakwood school.

In 2022, the event honored Monsignor Thomas Bergin, also a former teacher and principal at Farrell, and Larry Musanti, the school’s current principal, who has served on the Monsignor Farrell faculty and administration since 1970
