The National Weather Service issued a report at 11:51 p.m. on Wednesday for heavy snow until Thursday at 12:30 a.m. for Herkimer, Fulton, Montgomery, Schenectady and Albany counties.
“At 11:51 p.m., a band of heavy snow was along a line extending from near Frankfort to Pattersonville-Rotterdam Junction and moving southeast at 45 MPH,” states the weather service.
Locations impacted by the warning include Schenectady, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Gloversville, Johnstown, Ilion, Herkimer, Scotia, Little Falls, Canajoharie, Fonda, Guilderland, Glenville, Niskayuna, Duanesburg, Mohawk, Frankfort, Fort Plain, Dolgeville and St. Johnsville. This includes the following highways: interstate 88 between exits 24 and 25. Interstate 90 between exits 25 and 30. Interstate 890 between exits 1a and 9.
According to the weather service, “Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination.”
