Two people were killed and two others were injured early Thursday when their vehicle collided with a vehicle traveling fast on Main Street, Buffalo police said.
The crash occurred shortly after midnight at Main and Humboldt Parkway, when the driver of a Dodge Magnum “traveling north on Main Street at an apparent high rate of speed” collided with the driver of a Toyota Corolla trying to turn left onto Main Street, police spokesman Michael DeGeorge said in an email.
The male driver and a female passenger in the Corolla were taken to Erie County Medical Center, where they were later declared dead.
Two other male passengers in the Corolla also were taken to the regional trauma hospital, DeGeorge said. One of the men remained in critical condition Thursday afternoon, while the other was in stable condition.
Police took the 23-year-old male driver of the Dodge into custody and were preparing charges against him, DeGeorge said.
The crash remains under investigation.
