NY weather: Flood advisory for part of New York Saturday afternoon

A flood advisory was issued by the National Weather Service on Saturday at 11 a.m. in effect until 2 p.m. for the Bronx and Queens as well as Nassau and Westchester counties.

The weather service states, “Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.”

“Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas,” describes the weather service. “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.”

A flood watch is issued when conditions are favorable for flooding. It does not mean flooding will occur, but it is possible.
