GOSHEN – A 38-year-old Unionville man faces up to nine years in state prison when sentenced in May following his guilty plea in Orange County Court to burglary while in possession of a weapon.
District Attorney David Hoovler said it was alleged that on May 10, 2023 at about 12 noon, Jesse Frank kicked down the door of a tenant in an apartment in the Village of Unionville while holding a knife.
Once inside, Frank threatened to kill the occupant and struck the victim near the eye with the weapon. During the struggle, the victim sustained a broken orbital bone and a cut to the hand before being about to run out of the bedroom and flag down a passing motorist who a passing motorist who called 911.
After Frank was taken into custody, he admitted the incident to police and said he was attempting to take the victim’s eye out.
“The terrifying facts of this case are every resident’s worst nightmare,” said Hoovler. “Violent offenders must face stiff punishment so that dangerous individuals are removed from our community whole also serving as a deterrent to others.”
