Syracuse mom accused of killing 5-year-old daughter, concealing her body for months

Syracuse, N.Y. — A 29-year-old woman allegedly hid her 5-year-old daughter daughter’s body after she killed her three months ago, authorities said.

The woman, Latasha Mott, of Syracuse, is charged with first-degree manslaughter and disposal of a corpse degree, a felony, according to court papers filed in Syracuse City Court.

On Jan. 6, Mott hit her daughter — Nefertiti Harris — with a belt multiple times while she was in the shower at 127 W. Beard St., police said. The beating led to her death, they said.

Police said Mott hid Nefertiti’s body in a wooded area. Police have not said when or where the child’s body was found.

Mott was arraigned this morning and is currently being held in the Onondaga County Justice Center.
