A 41-year-old motorcyclist has died after being hit in Manhattan on Sunday by a driver who lost control on an icy section of Harlem River Drive, according to the NYPD.

The crash occurred around 7 a.m. and came after more than 3.5 inches of rain fell on Saturday. Temperatures dipped below freezing overnight, creating dangerous conditions on some roads.

Police said the 22-year-old driver was traveling south in a Lincoln Navigator SUV when he swerved on ice at the Harlem River Drive entrance ramp at 153rd Street. The driver hit the guardrail and then struck the motorcyclist, who was traveling in the same direction.

Police identified the motorcyclist as Hector Ferrer of Bergenfield, New Jersey. He was rushed to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and later pronounced dead.

The driver remained at the scene of the crash and was not arrested. The NYPD said the incident was still under investigation as of Monday morning.
