Cicero, N.Y. — The No. 3 Syracuse women’s lacrosse team kept up its hot streak with its eighth win in a row in a 16-7 victory against Pittsburgh on Saturday at C-NS High School.

Junior attack Payton Rowley and graduate midfielder Emma Tyrrell combined for six goals in the first quarter to set the pace early as Syracuse got out to a 7-1 lead.
The team never looked back, going for 12 goals in the first half to secure a 7-0 record in the ACC.

Tyrrell led the Orange with six goals, while Rowley and senior midfielder Natalie Smith each added a hat trick. Tyrrell tied her season high in goals.
The Orange got out to an early lead when Smith got on the board two minutes into the game, before Rowley and Tyrrell’s hat tricks gave the team a six-goal lead after just 15 minutes.
The second quarter was more of the same for Syracuse. Smith scored two goals to complete her hat trick, before junior attack Olivia Adamson and graduate midfield Savannah Sweitzer joined the scoring.

Even as the Pitt defense turned up the intensity and limited open looks for Syracuse, the Orange moved the ball around with patience, waiting for the best shot without forcing one. Most times, Syracuse either drew a free-position opportunity or took a clean shot. The Orange scored eight goals from free-position shots.
