Country star Colt Ford has been hospitalized after suffering a heart attack in Arizona, according to multiple reports.
Billboard reports the โWorkinโ Onโ singer was in the intensive care unit at the Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona. Ford was brought to the ICU following a performance at Dierks Bentleyโs Whiskey Row in Gilbert, near Phoenix, on Thursday night.
According to TMZ, Ford was transferred to the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Friday night. He was listed in stable, but critical condition.
Ford reportedly performed a two-and-a-half hour concert at Dierks Bentleyโs Whiskey Row, and didnโt show any signs of fatigue or illness during his 17-song set. Fans said he even lifted his mic stand high up in the air during his closing song, โCricket on a Line.โ
Ford, 53, is a Georgia native known for his mix of country and hip-hop, including co-writing and originally recording โDirt Road Anthemโ before it became a No. 1 hit for Jason Aldean. Ford has collaborated with artists like Aldean, Hardy, Toby Keith, Upchurch, Taylor Ray Holbrook, Bubba Sparxxx, Mitchell Tenpenny, Chase Rice, Tracy Byrd, Tracy Lawrence and Brantley Gilbert.
According to Billboard, Ford has publicly disclosed past health struggles including surgery for eye cancer and a longtime battle with the autoimmune disease Myasthenia Gravis.
โThe doctor told me I was a week to 10 days from having to go on full chemo,โ he told People magazine in 2021.
Itโs unclear how Fordโs upcoming tour dates will be affected. According to his website, heโs next scheduled to perform April 18 in Virginia and at โRock the Countryโ on April 19 in Kentucky.
