Steuben County Public Works officials have announced temporary closures of three major bridges starting May 13, as they undergo significant renovations. The closures, affecting the towns of Wheeler, Cohocton, and Campbell, are necessary to facilitate comprehensive overhauls of the aging structures.
The Mill Street bridge in Cohocton, spanning the Cohocton River between Marks Road and Erie Street, will be closed for approximately four weeks. During this period, a new wooden deck will be installed, and no onsite detour will be available. In Wheeler, the Bean Station bridge over Five Mile Creek will see a closure lasting about 12 weeks for a complete rebuild, including new concrete abutments and deck beams. A detour route will be available via Bean Station Road, Depew Road, County Road 77, and Muck Road.
Lastly, the County Road 333 bridge in Campbell is scheduled for a 15-week closure. This bridge, crossing Michigan Creek, will also undergo a full rebuild with new concrete structures. An onsite detour will be provided to assist traffic flow during the construction period.
