Police in Queens are looking for the gunman who opened fire at a baby shower early on Saturday morning, killing one man and leaving three others seriously wounded.
Law enforcement sources said the deadly shooting occurred inside the All That Jazz dance studio, at 108-11 Atlantic Ave. in Richmond Hill, at about 1:30 a.m. on May 4.
Officers from the 102nd Precinct, in responding to a 911 call regarding an assault, found a 24-year-old man shot once in the chest. EMS rushed him to Jamaica Hospital, where he died a short time later. Police have withheld his identity, pending family notification.
Cops also found at the dance studio two other victims — a 45-year-old man shot in the left leg, and a 26-year-old man shot in the right arm. EMS brought both victims to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.
Later, police learned that a fourth shooting victim, a 43-year-old man, arrived at Jamaica Hospital via private means. Police said the man suffered two gunshot wounds to his right arm, and was also hit in the left leg. He is now listed in stable condition at the hospital.
Throughout the early morning hours Saturday, police were seen combing the crime scene for evidence connected to the shooting. A puddle of blood was spotted on the floor of the festively-decorated studio next to boxes of diapers and gifts that had been left by shower guests.
The 102nd Precinct had not recorded a homicide year-to-date through April 28, according to the most recent CompStat report. The command had also seen just one shooting all year.
The motive for Saturday’s deadly shooting remains unknown at this time, police sources said. The NYPD also did not have available a suspect’s description.
