Anthony Rizzo capped off a four-run third inning with a three-run blast into the right-field seats as the New York Yankees (22-13) grabbed a 5-3 series-clinching victory over the Detroit Tigers (18-15) on Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.
Aaron Judge, who was ejected for the first time in his career for arguing a strike-three call in the seventh, had two hits, including an RBI double. Giancarlo Stanton plated the first run with a single.
Clarke Schmidt tossed five innings of three-run ball while striking out seven. Caleb Ferguson, Luke Weaver, and Clay Holmes combined for four scoreless.
