Yankees swept by Reds as rough stretch continues (highlights)

It was an ugly start to the homestand for the New York Yankees (54-35) as they were swept in a three-game series by the Cincinnati Reds (42-45) with an 8-4 loss on Thursday afternoon in the Bronx.ย 

New York has lost 14 of their last 19 games and trail the Baltimore Orioles in the American League East by multiple games for the first time this season.ย 

The Yankees fell behind 5-0 in the top of the fifth inning, answered with two in the home half on Austin Wellsโ€™ fourth home run of the season and Ben Riceโ€™s first Major League homer, but gave up three in the seventh as the Reds pulled away.ย Juan Soto did add a two-run shot later in the contest.

Marcus Stroman surrendered five runs over five. Jake Cousins allowed a three-run triple, but two were charged to Tim Hill.ย
