The popular Bennett Beach in Angola is once again fully staffed with lifeguards and open for swimming from noon to dusk daily.
One of the most visited beaches in Erie County, with clean, deep sand bordered by natural sand dunes, it is expected to attract many residents during the long Fourth of July holiday weekend.
“It truly is one of the best beaches in the Lower Great Lakes,” Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz said Wednesday.
Poloncarz and Parks Commissioner Troy Schinzel held a news conference Wednesday at the beach to remind visitors about the beach and beach rules. Pets, alcohol, flotation devices, fire and cooking are prohibited.ย
Bennett Beach water is tested daily due to its susceptibility to water pollution, which sometimes results in the beach being closed to swimmers. To find out whether the beach is open for swimming, visit the Erie County Parks Department homepage at erie.gov/parks.
