“Paint,” starring Owen Wilson as a Bob Ross-like public television painter, opens this week and local filmgoers will see a lot that’s familiar up on the big screen. The comedy-drama was filmed in the Capital Region in the spring of 2021, primarily in Saratoga Springs, but also at other locations like the WMHT studios in North Greenbush.
With such a delayed release, it’s not the most recent movie to use the Greater Capital Region as its soundstage, just the latest one released. It’s a history that goes back at least as far as the 1897 documentary short “Sprague Electric Train,” showcasing the operation of the third rail system in Schenectady. Naturally, all this got us thinking, “It’s time for another quiz about locally filmed movies.” And we’ll make it easy. We’ll give you two of the particular film’s stars, you give us the title. A couple caveats: in some cases the names will include the leading actor or actress, and in others, performers a little lower on the call sheet; and the actors below may or may not have been involved in the scenes shot here.
