OGDENSBURG – Ogdensburg Fire Department has two new firefighters.
Travis Wood and Jack Lake of Heuvelton are attending the City of Watertown Recruit Firefighter Academy for the coming 14 weeks.
Wood is a graduate from Heuvelton Central School and Northwest Technical Center where he studied Building Construction. Wood was previously employed by Jack Wood Contracting and most recently owner/operator of TRW Contracting.
“He brings a strong knowledge of building construction and NYS code standards to our department along with firefighting experience,” the chief said.
Wood is a second generation Heuvelton Firefighter, where during his 11 years with the department, he has held several ranks to include Chief of the Department.
Wood holds several NYS firefighting certifications including Firefighter 1, Fire Officer 1, and is a NYS Certified First Responder.
Wood resides with his wife Emilie and the couple are anxiously awaiting the birth of their first child.
Lake is a graduate from Heuvelton Central School and Jefferson Community College. While attending JCC, he obtained an AAS degree in Fire Protection Technology. Lake has been most recently employed by Corning Inc. where he was a Finishing Operator.
“Jack brings firefighting experience and education to our department,” Stull said.
Lake has been an active member of the Heuvelton Fire Department for the past 4 years. Lake has obtained several National Firefighting certifications including Firefighter 1, Firefighter 2, Fire Instructor 1, and is a NYS EMT-B.
