Pete Alonso, Francisco Lindor lead Mets to series win over Padres

The New York Mets (7-6) bounced back and secured a series win with a 5-2 victory over the San Diego Padres (7-6) on Wednesday afternoon at Citi Field.

Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso led the way with solo shots. Lindorโ€™s second home run of the season tied the game at two. Alonsoโ€™s MLB-leading sixth homer put the Mets on top for good.

Brandon Nimmo sparked the offense at the top of the order, going 3-for-4 with an RBI double and single. Tommy Pham also plated a run with a single.

Tylor Megill tossed five innings of two-run ball to improve to 3-0 on the season. Brooks Raley, Drew Smith, David Robertson, and Adam Ottavino all had scoreless appearances.

The Mets will get the day off Thursday before they begin a 10-game road in Oakland Friday against the Athletics. The first pitch is slated for 9:40 p.m.
